# Task Manager

> Set up recurring task rules and review weekly completion rollups.

Task Manager holds recurring task rules and weekly completion rollups.

Its focus is the work your agency repeats on a schedule — monthly reviews, quarterly checks, annual
renewals — rather than one-off to-dos.

## Who can use it

Every authenticated user.

    Automated task rules with frequency settings and next-run scheduling.

    **Columns:** Name · Frequency · Next Run · Status

    Each rule generates tasks on its own cadence. **Next Run** tells you when the rule fires again.

  <Accordion title="Weekly Summaries" icon="calendar-check">
    Weekly task completion summaries with date ranges.

    **Columns:** Week · Start · End

    Use these to see whether recurring work is actually getting done, week over week.

## Creating a recurring task rule

<Steps>
  <Step title="Name the rule for the work, not the date">
    "Monthly medication review" reads better on every generated task than "October tasks".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the frequency">
    The frequency decides how often OfficeRidge generates the task.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the next run">
    **Next Run** shows when the rule fires next. Check it after saving — it is the fastest way to
    catch a frequency you did not intend.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Activate the rule">
    A rule only generates tasks while its status is active.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Pause a rule instead of deleting it when work is temporarily suspended. Deleting loses the history
  that Weekly Summaries reports against.
</Tip>

## Reading weekly summaries

Each row covers one week. Compare weeks to spot recurring work that is consistently slipping — a
rule that never completes usually means the cadence is wrong or the task is assigned to someone
without capacity.

## Where other tasks live

Task Manager is for recurring rules. Task-like work that belongs to a specific process lives with
that process:

| Work                              | Where it lives                                          |
| --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| Tasks due today                   | [Dashboard](/dashboard)                                 |
| Project requirements and meetings | [Projects](/projects)                                   |
| Compliance dates and reviews      | [Compliance calendar](/compliance/quality)              |
| Emergency drill scheduling        | [Emergency drills](/emergency/drills)                   |

## Troubleshooting

| Problem                               | What to check                                                                                      |
| ------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| A rule is not generating tasks | Confirm the rule's status is active and **Next Run** is in the future. |
| Next Run looks wrong | The frequency setting drives it. Re-open the rule and confirm the cadence. |
| Weekly Summaries show gaps | A gap means no summary was recorded for that week, usually because no rules were active. |
| I expected a task from another module | Only Task Automation rules appear here. See the table above for where process-specific work lives. |
